Programs & Work

What we deliver

PEI Food Strong develops practical commercial projects that strengthen the Island food sector, from food transformation and product development to shared facilities, market connections and new business models.

We put what is being overlooked to work: facilities, equipment, rescued food, skilled workers and other resources that can create new value in the Island food economy.

We also develop products, tools and playbooks that can be tested here, improved and built upon by others across Canada.

ACTIVE PROGRAMS

Food Transformation & Up-Processing

We develop commercial uses for food and ingredients that might otherwise be wasted or underused, creating higher-value products and new market opportunities.

Market & Commercial Connections

We connect Island producers and food businesses with buyers, retailers, processors, facilities and other partners that can help move products from source to shelf.

Shared Processing & Production Infrastructure

We develop shared facilities, equipment access and production capacity that help small Island food businesses process, package and move products to market.

Food Business Support

We provide practical guidance, connections and commercial support to Island food start-ups, makers and small businesses developing products and bringing them to market.

IN DEVELOPMENT

PEI Cooks App

A consumer source-to-supper guide designed to help Islanders discover PEI food businesses, products, markets, makers, dining, events and food experiences, while giving local businesses greater visibility and new ways to reach customers.

Summerside Production Pilot

A small-scale commercial production pilot using underused food, equipment and processing capacity to test new products, shared production and market opportunities.

Product Development

Developing new commercial products from Island ingredients and underused food streams, creating added value and new market opportunities.

PEI Food Hub

A proposed shared-facility network for food transformation, cold-chain logistics, co-packing, freeze-drying and small food business incubation.
